Sooo... thank you to the 13 of us that voted... but we have a spilt decision. The poll went in favor of the pool 7 votes to 6. So I thought we could vote again... this time we will add in the choice of a fresh water reservoir. For those of us that did vote, please vote again and encourage others to vote too. We long everyones input.

Where to Swim????

As you can see from the schedule that we have planned to do a swimming activity on Friday morning. We originally thought that swimming in the great salt lake would be an experience that many have not done before and is out of the ordinary. It goes along with the theme of calling it the Hogwarts lake since it will be slimy.
However, we must consider that the water is very salty, salty enough to float in, and possible make your eyes burn. For a teenager or older this wouldn't be a problem because if your eyes get salty you just rinse them out but if we have little children playing they might not like it too much.

So lets all vote on it. Which one would you like to do? Swim in a normal pool or experience floating in a salty lake and playing on the beach.

This is what Utah's website says about swimming in the lake;
"Swimming and sunbathing are popular on the clean, white sand beaches at Antelope Island State Park. The salinity of the water averages about 12%, making it much saltier than the ocean. The water is so buoyant that people can easily float. Freshwater showers are available to rinse off after swimming."

Houses

I would like to thank the 11 people who voted in the poll about which shirts we should wear for our group picture. With 90% of the vote it has been decided that each family (of the original eight) will choose there own color of shirt to wear. Since each family has there own color(s), Steph, Vicky and I all thought it would be fun to have house names (like in harry potter). So now it is time to choose your house name. We ask that each family discuss and choose a name which they will be referred too during the reunion. Steph and I came up with a few ideas.

Calling for ancestor photos

As you will remember from Harry Potter that chocolate frogs came with cards of famous witches a wizards. Our reunion will have them too!!!! Our cards will be of our ancestors.

It has been suggested that for the family picture that each family wear they own color. For example, Jessica and her descendants can were blue, Debbie and her descendants could wear Red, etc.

Richardson Reunion

We are SO excited for this Richardson Reunion! It's pretty much going to be amazing. As you can see it is going to be a Harry Potter theme. Now, I know that some of you are rolling you eyes at this. But rest assured that just because the activity has a Harry Potter themed name does mean that muggles(not Potter fans) won't enjoy them.

The reunion will be August 13th through 16th. Our goal for this reunion is to have a wonderful time but also be economical. For that reason the reunion will be in Utah. There are plenty of relatives in the area who are willing to have guests sleep on couches and airbeds. But of course you would be more than welcome to get a hotel room if you prefer.

There has been conflicts with the dates of August 13th through the 16th for some people. I sincerely apologize for those who are unable to come. We understand it is impossible with such a large family to be convenient for everyone.
